An app and an ambitious programme of 'deep cleans' to 130 streets in Reading were given the once over by the Shadow Secretary of State for the Environment this week.
Maria Eagle MP visited Reading to hear from councillors and Reading West parliamentary candidate, Victoria Groulef, how the Love Clean Reading app works and to see what a difference the 'deep cleans' have made to local areas.
Residents can use the Love Clean Reading app to let the council know about areas that need attention, and in response teams with brooms, brushes, dustcarts, graffiti cleaning equipment and hedge-cutters come calling.
Work carried out includes street sweeping, verge edging, gulley emptying, weeding, tree pruning and clearing vegetation.
The work is in addition to the council's regular street cleaning and maintenance programme.
