Nancy Platts Welcomes Free Bus Travel News

Nancy_Platts_On_The_Buses.JPGNancy Platts has welcomed the news that Brighton and Hove buses will offer children free travel for a day on December 7th.

The Brighton Kemptown & Peacehaven candidate had called for the company to stop charging passengers on Small Business Saturday to tie in with a day of free parking in the city.

A few days after Nancy's appeal, Brighton and Hove Buses said it would offer the free travel to accompanied under 16-year-olds and Bus ID holders on Saturday, December 7.

Nancy Platts said: “This is a great way to support Small Business Saturday and families on low incomes at the same time.

“I hope that everyone will enjoy a family Christmas shopping day in Brighton’s unique and diverse range of shops this Saturday."

The Accompanied Kids Go Free offer is not available on night buses.

Drivers in Brighton will be able to come into the town centre and park for free on Small Business Saturday when charges are waived at five car parks in a bid to encourage more town centre shopping.

Free parking will be on offer in five car parks on Saturday 7 December, Sunday 8, 15 and 22 December at the following car parks:

  • Trafalgar Street
  • High Street
  • Regency Square
  • London Road
  • Norton Road

Visit the Small Business Saturday website for more information about events across the South East.
